If you are looking for a good set of dumbbells for your home gym, then you should consider purchasing the Weider Powerswitch dumbbell set. I have had the opportunity to use and to test out this set over the past 6 months and would recommend the unit to just about everyone out there who is looking to improve their home gym experience.
First of all, the Weider Powerswitch 100 does not cost as much as some of the comparable units. The cost of the Weider is just $300 – yes, this is the same cost as the Gold’s Gym and the Bowflex dumbbells (basically), but there is one huge advantage of getting the Weider because this cost also INCLUDES a stand, which is a must if you are looking to save room. With other sets you can pay up to $150 for the stand alone.
Second, the quality and build of the dumbbell set is above standard and better than many other units I have tested/reviewed. I have been using them very intensely for six months now and have not had one problem with this unit. The only other set that may be better quality is the Powerblock set, which costs more.
Third, (and this is more for adjustable dumbbells in general) you can literally replace 550 pounds of free weights by purchasing the Weider set of dumbbells. At an average cost of about $1/pound, that would be $550 worth of weights that you 1) get for less than $300 (again, the stand is worth at least $50-$75), and 2) takes about 1/10th of the space of traditional weight sets. In addition, switching weights is so easy that you also save time and wasted energy in switching times.
As you can see, the Weider Powerswitch dumbbell system is a great system and should be considered by anyone who is looking to purchase good, quality home gym equipment at a very reasonable price.
