The introduction of the laser technique to traditional liposuction methods offers patients an alternative way to remove unwanted body fat. This technique works for small localized deposits of fat or in areas where it may be difficult to treat with traditional techniques of liposuction. One of the greatest benefits of laser fat removal is that it is much less invasive and requires a smaller incision to perform the surgery.
All this is made possible by the smaller advanced tools used in the procedure. During laser liposuction, as it is known, a small optic fiber guides the laser beam into the area of the body where the fat is to be removed. This laser generates enough heat to literally melt the fat cells in the vicinity of the fiber and the liquefied fatty substance can then be suctioned from the area through a cannula or suction tube.
What makes this procedure significantly advantageous over traditional methods of liposuction surgery is the increased precision in targeting unwanted fat cells while leaving the neighboring tissues relatively unharmed. The accuracy to target small amounts of fat allows a surgeon to sculpt the area with greater detail and produce definition that otherwise would not be possible without the laser. It is not uncommon for a major procedure to first be performed with a traditional technique to remove the larger amount of fat and the follow up with lazer lipo in order to finalize the sculpting in greater detail.
The most important side effect of this increased precision to target fat cells without harming other tissue is the decreased level of stress to the surrounding tissue. It not only means significantly reduced levels of risk of other complications arising from damaged tissue but also much less that the body has to recover from. This means a faster healing process after the surgery so the patient can be back to work and going about their day sooner.
